Tesla coil has been assembled during research activities by a PhD-student of the Department of Non-Destructive Testing Instruments and Systems. This coil is a resonant transformer that generates a high-frequency high voltage. One of the effects inherent in such a coil is the creation of discharges that resemble thin illuminated branched channels. All these generated "channels" are accompanied by an electric sputtering.

Detailed research and analysis of application possibilities in non-destructive testing and diagnostics are currently being carried out with the assembled model.
