On May 22-23, 2024, in auditorium 170 of the first building, the inaugural "KPI Robotics Challenge" competitions took place in the categories "Maze" and "Robot Car Racing." The competition was organized at the initiative of the head of the engineering club "Robotics and Automation," senior lecturer at the ASNK department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Roman Galagan.
More than 10 participants took part in the competition, competing both as teams and individually. Unfortunately, certain factors prevented all participants and teams from attending, but we hope that next time, everyone interested will be able to participate.
The winners in the "Maze" category were a team consisting of third-year students from group PO-11: Nikita Biryuk, Yevheniy Petrenko, Maksym Malyutenko, and Dmytro Sudnytsyn. The robot they programmed covered the longest distance in the maze but was unable to exit it. Therefore, there is still room for improvement. It should be noted that this category turned out to be challenging for all participants this year, as no team's robot managed to complete the maze. Thus, there is a good incentive for participants in the next competition to prepare well and become the first whose robot fully navigates the maze.
The winner of "Robot Car Racing" was Yaroslav Kiris, a first-year student from group PO-31 and a member of the "Robotics and Automation" club. He created a smartphone application that allows controlling a robot car via Bluetooth and developed his own interesting control algorithm.
Congratulations to all the winners and other participants of the competition.
We also thank everyone present and the supporters for creating a wonderful atmosphere.
This year, the competition was held among students of the Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering, but the next competition is planned to be open to all students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and other universities.
So, we are looking for the next meetings and events.
