In 1966, he graduated from a school with a mathematical focus. In 1966, he entered the KPI. In 1972, he graduated from the Radio Engineering Faculty with a degree in Radio Engineering. In 1972, he entered the KPI postgraduate school. After graduating from postgraduate school, he worked at the Department of Information and Measurement Technology as a researcher. He was later transferred to the "Storm" Design Bureau at KPI. From 1979 to 1982, he was the head of the research sector 32 of the "Storm" Design Bureau. He was the responsible executor of important research works of a defense nature. He participated in the installation and adjustment of important equipment in Kamchatka. In 1981, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. In 1982, he moved to teaching work at the Department of Devices and Systems of Non-Destructive Testing. In 1985-1986, he underwent an internship at the Budapest University of Technology (Hungary). In 2006-2008, he was the scientific supervisor of a successfully completed work on the inspection of wheel pairs of high-speed trains for Germany (BIP company).
Under the leadership of Bazhenov V.G., work was successfully carried out for geophysicists. The new methodology for finding minerals with the help of the developed equipment was recently recognized in Ukraine. The developed equipment has successfully passed tests in Antarctica. In 2012-2013, he was the scientific supervisor of the work under contract No. 61/2012-CTEH-166/2012-CYU for the implementation of research and development work dated August 16, 2012, between the "Kyiv Polytechnic" Science Park and the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine "Ukrzaliznytsia" "Development of a prototype device for detecting internal defects in large-sized casting of freight car bogies." The cost of work from August 16, 2012, to July 1, 2013, is 196 thousand UAH. During the participation (since 2009 to 2013) in the International Salon of Inventions and New Technologies "NEW TIME" "Sustainable Development in Times of Change" in Sevastopol (where representatives from more than 30 countries took part), students under the guidance of Bazhenov V.G. won 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals for the developments submitted to the competition. In 2012, he became the laureate of the festival of innovative projects among universities of Ukraine "Sikorsky Challenge" for the presented project and a model of a reconfigurable universal measuring system ("Reconfigurable Universal Measuring System"). In 2013, he became the winner of the NTUU "KPI" competition in the nomination "Teacher-Researcher - 2013". He has more than one hundred publications, among which there is one monograph and about 50 inventions of the USSR and patents of Ukraine.
